‘The Roundup: Punishment’, which is the 4th installment in the popular Korean film franchise, has officially set a new all-time opening day presales record in the Korean market, according to Deadline.
The film, which makes it’s official premier today, has clocked over 834,000 ticket reservations as of Wednesday morning local time, accounting for 95.5% of all sales, according to the Korean Times.
Those numbers top numbers set by their prior entry, the 2023 ‘The Roundup: No Way Out’ which went end up grossing $76.4 million in the local market and also tips 2018’s Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days’ number of 646K in presales.
According to the official synopsis: “While pursuing the developer of a drug trafficking app, Detective Ma Seok-do uncovers a deadly link to a vast online gambling syndicate, triggering an unprecedented alliance to take down the masterminds.’
The film stars Ma Dong-seok, Kim Mu-yeol, Lee Joo-bin, Lee Dong-hwi, Park Ji-hwan, and Lee Beon-soo among others.
