The lucrative Indian Premier League is still a month away, but the off-field war has already begun between the Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The first match of the twelfth edition of the IPL is set to be held on March 23 between these two big guns in Chennai.
As soon as the schedule of the first two weeks of the VIVO IPL 2019 Season was announced on Tuesday, the CSK and RCB had a bust-up on Twitter. The topic of the issue was none other than the South Indian dish Sambar.
Seriously!? Um, yes.
The Bangalore drew the first blood when they tweeted, “A spicy south Indian Derby for starters – but we prefer the sweet sambar. Our VIVO IPL 2019 begins away from Bengaluru on Day 1. PlayBold.”
The Super Kings can’t afford to lose the debate and they decided to reply with a pun referring to their yellow jerseys.
“But sambar is always #Yellove in colour no?” the champions wrote.
Anyway, Sambar is usually sour, salty, spicy, and yes, it is yellow but not sweet. Nevertheless, the little debate is the appetizer for the big platter which is yet to come in a month.
Cricket pundits are pouring in their thoughts with millions of fans waiting for the moments when Virat Kohli lock horn with the MS Dhoni-led team.
The first two weeks, which feature 17 matches, are subject to the announcement of the Lok Sabha 2019 election dates. Once these have been released BCCI will address any issues with the first two weeks and will also prepare a schedule for the remainder of the season working with the local authorities around the polling dates, said IPL.
