48 equivalent high schools in West Sumatra participated in the VI History Olympiad held by the Student Association of the Department of History, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Andalas University on November 14-15, 2016.
Chairman of the VI History Olympiad Committee Rizky Wira Yudha in Padang, Monday (14/11), said that these 48 schools consist of high schools, vocational schools, MAN and also Islamic boarding schools throughout West Sumatra.
“This school will participate in three categories of competitions that we have prepared,” said Rizky, as quoted from antarasumbar.
The three categories or branches of the competition are the Scientific Writing Competition (LKTI), the Quiz Competition (LCC) and the Written Exam.
According to him, for the first day, a Quiz Competition and a Written Examination will be held, while a Scientific Writing Competition will be held the next day.
He explained that this Olympic activity is an annual program of Hima Ilmu Sejarah which has been implemented since 2010.
“This activity has been started since 2010 which aims to increase the spirit of nationalism to foster a love for history,” he said.
He added that with the holding of this activity, it is hoped that the spirit of nationalism and the spirit of creativity of the students can be stronger.
“After this, it is hoped that the spirit of nationalism of the younger generation, especially Olympic participants, can be stronger in the midst of the current globalization,” he hoped.
Meanwhile, one of the Olympiad participants from MAN 1 Model Bukittinggi, Desnely Refrensy, said she was happy to be able to participate in this activity because she could compete with other students throughout West Sumatra.
“I am very interested in history so I am happy to be able to participate in this activity,” he said.
